Scalp mycosis
Scalp mycosis (Tinea capitis) has universal distribution, which quite often arises in the form of epidemic flashes. Disease can be caused by all kinds of Trichophyton and Microsporum fungi. Symptoms:
At superficial trichophytosis capitis one or several centers of various sizes with rough, indistinct borders, slightly pink, more often of incorrect round shape and covered with gray-white scales arise. Hair on the affected area seems thin which is caused by hair affected by the fungi breaking off. Hair breaks off at a range of 1-2 mm over skin’s level or at scalp surface and looks like black dots then.
Chronic scalp trichophytosis is located mostly in occipital and temporal regions of head and is characterized by small centers or diffuse ill-defined desquamation against a background of which separate broken off hair is found.
